MS Office XP - problem starting up.

Hi,
I recently bought a laptopo that is running of XP Home edition.
I had Office 2000 which I installed to use MS Outlook express. It gave me runtime problem and i could not use it. i uninstalled the program.

After that i installed Office XP, it installed MS Outlook. When i open this application it opens up but also gives me "Runtime Error" and say "c:\Prog~1\micros~4\office10\outlook.exe" "the application has requested the run time to terminate the application in an usual way" when i press "ok" it closes down.

When i tried to open it using the shortcut given on the desk top, i get this msg:-

Cannot Start Microsoft Outlook, Unable to display the selected folder or item. Could not complete the operation. One or more parameter values are not
valid"

Could anyone tell me the reason and remedy for this please?

Thanks
