Outlook 2003 Undelieverable
Am not 100% sure if this is the best place to post, but here we go.
I have 1 user that for some reason when he is trying to send am email out using a distrubution group, some of the emails bounce back with a Undelieverable message. All the error messages are not always the same error either. Example of some error messages: Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients. Subject: Test Sent: 11/4/2009 2:59 PM The following recipient(s) cannot be reached: xxxx xxxxxx on 11/4/2009 2:59 PM There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server. Please contact your system administrator. <mail.leecosteel.com #5.5.0 smtp;550 <xxxxxxx@xxxxxx.com> No such user here> Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients. Subject: Test Sent: 11/4/2009 2:59 PM The following recipient(s) cannot be reached: xxxxxx xxxxxxx on 11/4/2009 2:59 PM There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server. Please contact your system administrator. <mail.leecosteel.com #5.5.0 smtp;550 sorry, no mailbox here by that name. (#5.7.17)> Now by looking at the error message you would think that the email is just typed incorrectly. But I double checked and they are correct. Also if they send an email to these same addresses directly (not using the distrubution group) they go through with no problem. Am at a loss on why this is happening. I hope someone here and help me out. Thanks, GHock |

Re: Outlook 2003 Undelieverable
Hi,
it would appear that the problem is definately at the other end. Are you typing the email address from scratch or replying to an email they've sent you? Try send an email to the same address from someone else in your company, does that go through? Does the other company use a filtering service such as Mimecast? Maybe the emails are being held or there's a rule in place on this service which is blocking your mail? Are you sending an attachment? If so what is it, how big, and what's the name of it? However it basically appears as though their own server is denying that such a user/mailbox exists, so either the address is wrong, or the mailbox is not accepting messages/the user has left, or possibly there's a config problem their end if they've got multiple exchange servers etc?

Re: Outlook 2003 Undelieverable
Hi ghock,
I would check this User's Distribution Group if he/she has any invalid e-mail addresses, that no longer exists or maybe wrong e-mail addresses. I would def. check on this.

Re: Outlook 2003 Undelieverable
I have re-created the Distribution Groups and double check the e-mails and they are correct. But still having issues. The part is throwing me off is how he can send emails outside of the Distribution Groups to these same people with out any problems. I have no idea what to do to fix this. Anymore ideas?
