Outlook 2003 contacts help

Hi,

I have a problem. Today i spent all day working on my contacts list adding new people, editing, adding company names ETC.. Now i made this the way i needed it. All my contacts show under the company name. So when i click contacts it gives me the companies name because thats how I have it filed. But since everyone in my company will use this list i need to export it and then import it on my other computers. Now the thing is when i transfer it over to another PC and when i click contacts i see the peoples names not the company name. Any idea how to fix this?

Thanks!

Re: Outlook 2003 contacts help

Hi majkataxmk and welcome to TSF!

Before you export and import the contacts info to other computers try this:

From Outlook 2007, go to Tools => Options => Contact Options => In Select the Default Setting for how to file new contacts, you may choose Company or however you want to Default your settings.

It's the same in Outlook 2003.

Hi,

Thank you for the welcome, but unfortunately that does not work either.. It still files them under name.

Re: Outlook 2003 contacts help

From where those contacts originally came from are they default to Company? you might want to check on that on all of the contacts.

Re: Outlook 2003 contacts help

alright, here's another suggestion and it is going to work, but can be a little time consuming, if you are quick it shd be done in no time. From Outlook 2003 or 2007 you may click on View => Arrange By => Current View => By Company and if you need additional customization click on Customize Current View. You'll have to do this all the computers that needs these contacts merged.
Another suggestion and it's way easier, if you are using Exchange, why not share this Contacts and just give proper permission to the employees. Let me know if you need instruction on how to do this if you prefer this method.
