Name in Office
Hello,
I have a slight problem here. I have a domain with a couple of users. Several PC's with Microsoft Office 2007 installed. In Office you can add a username and initials, so if someones opens a document already opened, you can see who has taken it already by looking at the name returned to you. However this username does not seem to work as it should. As I'm sometimes getting another username returned than the one actually in the document. Scenario: User1 have word.docx open, then User2 tries to open it - And gets an error returned that User3 is currently using the document. Why is this? I can't seem to find the reason why this it happending. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Alex. |

Re: Name in Office
Hello,
Thanks for your reply. I'm a bit confused by what you mean. However could it be related to my other problem. (Not office related!) I did a transfer from Exchange Server 2000, to Exchange Server 2007 which worked out beautifully after some trouble. And it's running just fine as this is being written. However, when I use the Microsoft Exchange troubleshooting Assistant tool in Exchange, and I try to lookup any user found in the AD something wierd happends. The scenario is following: I have a user called "AM" which I use to logon to domain and connect to Exchange etc. I type in "AM" and click Resolve Recipient, however the name it suggests is "AM2@Domain.com" - Now I suspect this is because I transfered this user from old AD + Exchange to new AD and Exchange, because I tried to create a user on the new AD + Exchange, which is not being called "Name2@domain.com", just "name@domain.com". I just can't figure out how to change this, as I would really like it to give back "AM@domain.com" instead of "AM2@domain.com" without having to recreate the user and transfer mailbox. |

Re: Name in Office
Hi Alex,
I don't know anything useful about Exchange Server, but it seems to me it would be best to sort out the problems you're having there. They may, after all, be at the root of your Office problem.
