Office 2003 and Office 2007

hi, i have both office 2003 and office 2007 installed on my computer. however, there is a problem that keeps reoccuring. whenever i open access 2003, the "preparing to install" wizard appears and configures office 2003. the same thing happens if i open access 2007, the "preparing to install" wizard opens and it has to configure office 2007. is their any way that i can fix this so it stops happening? thanks for the help.

Re: Office 2003 and Office 2007

Do you really need both Office 2003 and 2007? I've never had both installed on the same computer before, but it might be that using one "disables" the other until you use it again at which point it "disables" the other one again and the cycle continues.

If you open one component of Office 2003 (say, Word) and then close out of it and open another component of Office 2003 (like Excel), does it require a new configuration or is a new configuration only required when you go from one version to the other?

Re: Office 2003 and Office 2007

I'd say to go with the one that you like best and are most comfortable with, but 2007 is likely to have more/better features than 2003 (like the "de-duping" tool for Excel).

I've never used Access, so I don't know. Try googling it.

Re: Office 2003 and Office 2007

There is no problem running Access 2003 and Access 2007 on the same computer. You just have to put up with the re-registering process when switching from one to another. This is because both 2003 and 2007 share some common registry entries. Unlike the registry hack that fixes Word, there is no such fix for Access.

I have both Office 2003 and 2007 installed on my computer and have no issues (except for the re-register process with Access). But I find that I pretty much only use Access 2007 anymore. All my old 2003 databases work just fine in 2007 without having to convert them.

Re: Office 2003 and Office 2007

I just use OpenOffice.org's software. It does exactly what I want it to and doesn't fight me or anything :-)

I wish I could help, but I don't know any way to fix this without messing with the registry and I don't particularly like to do that.
