winxp faxing using address book crashes

Hi,
I'm not sure if i'm even posting this in the right section. I'm sorry if its it..

I have a computer running windows xp pro. I have an internal modem that came with my dell vostro 400. I am currently using outlook 2007.

Here's my problem:
whenever i try to fax using windows fax console, and i get up to the part where i can click on the address book button, it allows me to choose a contact, as soon as i click OK to go to the next step (which would be if i wanted to send a cover page) it shuts down the fax wizard, without actually sending the fax. when i try to do it again i get up to the same step and then it freezes whatever program i'm using and i usually have to alt+ctrl+del to get out of the program and then go back into it.

I use to fax through the computer all the time, I didn't change anything to the computer. I'm not sure if its a windows security update that has caused the fax console to shut down prematurely.

I have done a clean install of windows, just in case it might've been a virus or something messing with it, but i get the same problem.

Also, If i try to fax something through the computer and I manually enter the phone number, the fax wizard completes and the fax goes through.

I have 2 other groups in outlook 2007 setup under contacts.. I have Contacts (obviously), Emails, & personal.. All my fax numbers are saved under Contacts. Whenever I make a new group, lets say contacts1 and i copy & paste all my numbers from contacts to contacts1, I am able to send a fax using send fax wizard and choosing the address button and actually having my fax go through successfully, for a little while, then after an hour or two I get that same problem as mentioned above..

I'm hoping someone has had this same problem and has found a fix for it.

any help would be greatly appreciated..

Thanx,
Alison
