Folder may be located on an invalid volume or protected with a password
Hi All,
I have a Windows local network that has machines with Windows 98 and Windows XP. All machines have MS Office 2000 Pro. One “Server” machine (running Windows 98) is used as a shared drive. Normally users are able to save their MS Word documents by simply clicking “Save As…” and give their files a name… Recently Windows XP users have a problem with a direct saving of files from Word to the shared drive. The error message that pops up says: Cannot save ‘\\Server\File location…’. Folder may be located on an invalid volume or protected with a password. So: I tried opening a blank Word document and pressing the save button – this works where the blank document is saved with a default name such as doc1.doc. When I try to give it a different name I get the same error message. When saved to a local drive and then using the Windows Explorer I copy the file to the shared drive it works… I am confused – can anybody help me with this one? Thanks in advance Al Last edited by Al888; 02-16-2005 at 06:16 AM. |
