Simple MS Access database macro needed
Hi there,
I need a macro for a library catalogue which will save the database in two places on the click of a button after records have been entered or edited. It's for a friend of mine who recently lost 2 weeks hard work when a (brand new) HDD went belly-up...... now she wants to be able to back up her work straight away. I can't figure out how to do this in Access - it's easy to record in Word. What's required is this. She opens the database filename.mdb from an icon on the desktop. Adds some records. When she's done enough to warrant backing up, she clicks a button (on the Switchboard?) and the macro 1. Performs a Save As, under the same filename, to the G:\ drive (memory card) 2. Agrees to overwrite the old file. 3. Performs a Save As, under the same name, to the file she started with on her Desktop. Agrees to overwrite the old file. The reason for this arrangement is so that the desktop file is always the primary one & if she just hits the "Save" button, all changes are recorded there., and when she opens the dbase it's always from the desktop. She's not very computer-savvy, so it needs to be simple & foolproof. This procedure works fine for her Word docs. It sounds easy, but the Access help tells me how to save a file in the same place under a different name, but not how to save it in a different place under the same name. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Tony |
