Exchange 2003 and POP3 accounts
Hi All,
This is my first post on this forum. We currently have a Windows 2003 Server Standard edition, running Exchange 2003 with approx. 18 mailboxes configured, and the employees use Outlook 2003 for sending/receiving emails, on laptops running Vista Business SP2. Here's the problem: We're working with another company for performing executive searches (we're an executive search company) and they've provided us with POP3 email IDs, usernames and passwords for each employee to use while performing searches or for correspondence with potential clients. My management has asked me to configure these POP accounts for the employees to use. I suggested creating a second profile, so that the employees can switch between corporate SMTP mail and the POP ID, but it doesn't meet their requirements, which are as follows: 1) Employees should be able to send and receive from both IDs, POP3 and corporate SMTP, and receive emails within the same profile, without switching 2) All correspondence using the POP3 ID should go in a seperate folder (sort of like the way an employee can open another employee's mailbox from within Outlook 2003, basically, the same folder structure and view). The first bit was possible, as I configured a POP3 account alongside the current account, but the problem is, they receive emails on their POP3 ID, which gets delivered to the default Inbox in their Outlook 2003, and then can reply to these emails. But when they create a new email, and enter their POP3 ID as the From ID, they get an Undeliverable email which gives the error message: The following recipient(s) could not be reached: xyz@gmail.com on 6/24/2009 11:16AM You do not have permission to send to this recipient. For assistance, contact your system administrator. MXEXCH:MSExchangeIS:/DC=com/DC=Mosaic-MAIL xyz@gmail.com is the account I'm sending to, and Mosaic-MAIL is the name of our Exchange Server. What am I doing wrong here? I downloaded POPRoute and POPCollector, but realized they're just tools for collecting emails from POP accounts and distributing to SMTP mailboxes, not for sending. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |
