Word 2007 Mail Merge - Temporary Document?

Can someone please help.
I cannot get mail merging to work on a client's machine. Whenever I try to open a currently mail merged document I get the following error, as if Word is trying to open a temporary document with the mail merge data source pointing to a completely different place

6AF93660 is a mail merge main document. Word cannot find its datasource.

The number changes each time I open it.

Also, when I try and create a new document, all I get is an error saying Word is unable to open the data source.

I have replaced the datasource files, but the same error persists.

Can anyone please help?

Hi Darren,

You should only get that error message if you try to open a mail merge main document on a different PC or if the path to the datasource has been changed. It should not occur with 'a currently mail merged document' (ie the merged output file).
