All Microsoft Office 2007 work but wont open through short cuts

All of my Microsoft Office 2007 programs work when you open a file for that programs. But when I go to just open them from a short cut or program list it starts to open up then stops with no error message or signs of freezing. I run Vista and it started happening after april 1 2009. I have no idea what is wrong, any ideas ? thanx

can you check and see if you have installed any updates prior to april 1st and try to remove them.
