sending email issue
I've seen lots of posts about people having problems sending emails even though they can receive them, but I haven't seen anything exactly like I am experiencing.
I am running Outlook 2007 on XP pro 2007, serv pack 3. This is a new computer for us, so I'm guessing it's probably a setting somewhere, but here's the scoop: When I set up the email about a month ago, no issues. Testing of the account settings was fine. I usually just bring my work laptop home, but occasionally I do log on using a VPN. The first time I did that, we noticed it actually shut down the outgoing emails until I logged off. The last time I logged on, the logout from the page wasn't smooth and I had a message come up asking if I was sure I wanted to delete that site from my history. I clicked yes (really didn't think anything would matter either way) and it still didn't close out the internet logout page. Since then, we've been having issues with sending emails from the outlook on that computer. The weird thing is that when I hit send/receive, it sometimes does say it's completed, although the message in the outbox is still sitting there. Plus, at some random time a few hours later, it will actually send anything in the outbox. Sometimes it will give the error 'Outlook is unable to connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).' any suggestions?

Re: sending email issue
not sure if this helps, too - I tried setting up the account on outlook express and received this error message..
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'mail.xyz.com', Server: 'mail.xyz.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E ?? |
