1. Can anyone suggest what to do?
I live in a remote area and got Service Pack 2 sent to me from Microsoft (XP platform) and installed it. Now, whenever we go online (dial-up of course) there is no way to tell that we are on, the double computers no longer appear. I am set for automatic updates, but this has not changed. What to do? 2. Also, my spyware remover constantly removes everything but something called DELFIN, any help on that? 3. I have the google pop-up blocker and it does a great job, but these 3 or 4 same pop-ups still come up, registry cleaner, system running slow and one other. Are they Microsoft or Google sponsored and that is why they come through? |

1. Go to Control Panel --> Network and Internet Connections --> Network Connections --> right click on the connection you're talking about ---> go to Properties --> tick the box that says "Show icon in notification area when connected".
2 and 3: Please download Ad-aware SE and install it if you don't have it already. Make sure it's the newest version and check for any updates before running it. Also go here to get the plug-in for fixing VX2 variants. To run this tool, go into Ad-aware->Add-ons and select VX2 Cleaner. Then click Run Tool and OK to start it. If it's clean, it will say Status System Clean. Otherwise, you will have to click on the Clean button to remove the VX2 infection. Also make sure to customize the settings in Ad-aware for better scan results. Run the scan and fix everything that it finds. and Download and install Spybot S&D. Run Spybot and click on the 'Search for Updates' button. Install any updates that are available. Next click on the 'Check for Problems' button. Let it run the scan. If it finds something, check all those in RED and hit the Fix Selected Problems button. Exit Spybot. If you keep getting the DSO Exploit entries, even after you updated Windows and fixed them, then download the Spybot DSO Exploit Fix and install it over the current Spybot installation. Please let us know if this resolves the issue or if you need further assistance. |
