Microsoft Access Ideas Needed!!!
Hi
I wonder if anyone can help me! I work in the IT section of a company in London, that have put me in charge of a new project. We have a main office in London, and two smaller offices linked too us. Our business offers advertising space for companies, Companies use our offices to advertise there stock. What we have at the moment is three access database's, each company has its own database! One problem with this set-up at the moment is if a client contacts us and needs to book space at all three of out offices, we have to get in contact with each office and go through there database with them to check they have the slot free, which means we all have to go through our databases and update them and then as a backup we have all the data in a excel spreadsheet as well which is linked to the database, which means that has to be updated as well, so for each office, it means filling in the information twice, this is very time consuming for each office. What I'm thinking, and stop me if i go into the impossible, but would it not be easier to create just one single database to do this, or perhaps two databases that were talking to each other so when we input the information on the database it updates all of them so it saves us having to go through them all to find out whether they have the free space. You can see the problem with the system at the moment, it just takes one mistake on booking space for the whole system to be thrown out and clients left unhappy. I would be grateful if someone could help me out with this. Many Thanks Ross |
