Strange message on opening Word
I'm using Office97 on an HP computer with Vista Home Premium. When opening Word, I get a message box headed "Microsoft Virtual Basic" which contains the message "Compile error in hidden module: AutoExec" This is a recent thing, it didn't happen when I first got the computer. Also, I click "OK" and the box goes away, and I can use Word normally. How did this nuisance start, and how can I get rid of it?

Re: Strange message on opening Word
Hi hlsmlane,
The error message realtes to "Microsoft Visual Basic" and is probably caused by an errant Add-in. You can see a list of the add-ins that could be giving you grief via Tools|Customise|Toolbars. Anything listed after 'Word Art' could be the culprit. Try repairing or removing & reinstalling those items. Do note too that, although you might be able to get it to run satisfactorily, Office 97 is not supported on Windows Vista.
