Publisher help please!!!!
Hello,
I'm not sure if this is the right place for this so please feel free to point me in the right direction. I have been sitting here, at midnight, crying my eyes out!! Here's what happened: I was at work, I began creating my first publisher document ever. I saved it, then e-mailed it to myself so I could work on it at home. Once I got home I opened the email - clicked on the file and then clicked on "open" . This made publisher open and the file open. I began working on my file...4 hours later I was finished. I clicked save, then closed the program. Now I can't find the file. I searched for all files created or modified today, I searched by the file name that I downloaded, I searched in c:/temp, it's nowhere. I guess I should have clicked on "save as" so I could save it somewhere I knew..... Any suggestions would be great, my husband and I are trying to adopt and this was our "Dear Birthmother" letter that we will be sending to the agency who will forward to possible pregnant girls. It is so so so important, it was so much work. Thank you for any help.!!! |

Re: Publisher help please!!!!
Open another email you have at home and go to File > Save as and note where the file is defaulted to save to - it will appear in the top box of the Save As dialogue box. You may then be able to navigate to where your email program is saving files and possibly your wanted file will be there.
OR In Publisher go to File > Open Recent and see if it shows up there

Re: Publisher help please!!!!
My guess would be that it's located in your temp directory. When you double click an attachment, without saving it first, it "copies" the file to the temp directory on your computer and then allows you to work on it. When you simply saved it, that's where it put the file. That directory is hidden by default and as I recall it's not a path that's searched when you look for files and folders using the search wizard. I'd try the following:
Open MY COMPUTER, click on TOOLS>FOLDER OPTIONS>VIEW and find the HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDER section and click on SHOW HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS and click on APPLY. From there navigate to C:\WINDOWS\TEMP and see if you can find it in there.

Re: Publisher help please!!!!
It's very possible then that the changes you made are now gone and they may have been purged from the temporary holding area that they resided.
