select non-adjacent items in Word 2000
Pressing and holding the Control key while I select non-adjacent items does not "accumulate" items for me in MSWord 2000. Instead, when the second non-adjacent item is selected, the first item is de-selected. This particular “select” command does not appear in Tools/Customize/Commands/All Commands. Where can I re-set this command or how can I create the command again? Operating system is Windows ME with MSWord97 upgraded to MSWord2000. Thank you.

Re: select non-adjacent items in Word 2000
Hi jamon,
AFAIK, the Ctrl-Select approach does 'accumulate' text selections in Word 2000, though it does in later versions. In Word 2000, the Ctrl-Select approach does 'accumulate' embedded floating shape selections, however.

Re: select non-adjacent items in Word 2000
Hi macropod, thanks for your response. This key command - press and hold Control while hi-liting (and "accumulating") non-adjacent items used to work on my Word 2000 version. If it matters, this relates to WindowsXP - NOT WinME, as I incorrectly stated in my original post. It would be helpful if another poster with this combination attempted this key command and reported their results. Either way, my question would still be: how could a command such as this be integrated into Word? I'm not familiar with macros but would this be the sort of thing they address? Thanks again.
