Word 2007 Column Format Problem

I have a very large document that was created in Word 2003 and is formatted to use 3 columns. It looks fine in Word 2003. When I open it in Word 2007 Compatibility Mode, many of the pages show the text from the top of column 2 overlapping the text at the bottom of column 3.

The attached shows an example of overlapping text at the bottom of column 3 of one of the pages.

The document appears to print correctly, but the problem makes it very difficult to proof and edit the text.

Any suggestions for fixing this?

Re: Word 2007 Column Format Problem

Hi KBen,

Do you have the Office 2007 SP1 update installed?

Have you tried repairing your Office installation (Word Options|Resources|Run MS Office Diagnostics)?

Re: Word 2007 Column Format Problem

Hello and thanks for your response.

I confirmed that Office 2007 SP1 update is installed and I did try repairing my Office installation. No luck there.

FYI, the problem is occurs consistently for other users, too.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Word 2007 Column Format Problem

I have additional information.

The problem occurs when the vertical alignment of the section layout is set to justified. If I change the vertical alignment to top, bottom or center, the text no longer overlaps.

I can only recreate it in a continous section preceded by a continous section.

Any thoughts?
