MS Outlook email size increased

I just upgraded from Office 2003 to Office 2007. I send out daily status to my org, which include up to 2 bmp's in the email. Before, in 2003, these emails would be no bigger than 500kb or so. Now, with 2007, the emails are as big as 5MB. In both cases, I use the Rich Text Format. Is there anything I can do to decrease the size of these emails so I don't kill everyones inboxes?
FYI - I've been told to send the bmp's (pictures of excel) due to the our executives being able to view them on their blackberry's, so I don't think I can change that.

Re: MS Outlook email size increased

Just to update my issue. I received an email (with a picture attachment) from a team member of mine who just so happens to have Outlook 2003. It's size when it got to my box is just 564kb. I just tried forwarding it using Outlook 2007 and I couldn't as it exceeds the email size limit. I then saved it to my drafts folder and it is 22MB. This is a simple forward of an email that has a picture attachment.

Did you ever figure this out? I cannot even attach a file to my email. I used to be able to, now I cannot. I have Windows Vista Home Premium and Outlook 2007. Everytime I try, the program closes.
