Hi, Im using Microsoft XP and ive just succesfully installed Microsoft Office 2007. But when i save documents, then go to re-open them i get this error: http://i35.tinypic.com/i1dx52.jpg

If i save the document then go to open them at work it opens fine

Anyone know what the problem is and knows how to fix it :x?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Unable to open documents in Microsoft Office 2007

Are you trying to open it by double clicking on the filename or by using the open file function in Word?

Does the problem persist after a re-boot?

Can you find the file in MS Explorer? (Probably in you're "My Documents" folder)

Is the extension correct? With Word 2007 it should be .docx unless you've changed the setting to default to another format.

Are you having the same problem with other files? If so, you might try a repair install. If not, you might try doing a saveas from your work computer.

The only other place I can think to look is the registry file. Deleting the reference to word in the registry forces it to re-register itself and fixes the problem.

Re: Unable to open documents in Microsoft Office 2007

Yeah the file extension was .docx, Yeah i tried opening it in microsoft word by file > open > filename. It doesnt just happen in word no, The problem is in all the software.. powerpoint/publisher/word etc.

Ive just uninstalled office 2007 and installed office 2003 and im still getting the same problem? ;/

Could you be abit more specific on the registry bit.. i know how to get to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE via run/regedit but where to then?
