Microsoft word

I have a new computer and it came with microsoft office already downloaded on it. Every time I click on microsoft word it comes up with " word could not create the work file. Check the temp environment variable." If I click on ok it takes me into word but I can not save without a thumb drive. I have vista on my computer. Any help would be apprieciated.

office a trial version?

No office is not a trial version.

Do you have a MS Office repair disk? If so, run a repair install cycle and see if that clears up the setting. You might also need to remove Word from the registry and force it to re-register itself. This is not the same as registering ownership with M$. It's actually just a file that tells your 'puter what apps are permitted "registered" with your OS.
