Excel 2007 and 2003 conflict.
Hi,
I have an excel file which was originally made in Excel 2003. as the file was big and lot of add-ons were put into it, it started giving error stating “error was detected in the file but excel was able to open the file by making some repairs. Save the file and make the repairs permanently” Then I pulled out the file when it was fine. I was advised to use Excel 2007 as it’s a big file and then there will be no problem. The file is on a share drive. I open the file in 2007 and it works fine. I can do changes and can save it as xls. But when the same file is opened in 2003, it gives the same error and some of the values are missing from the file. Please help!! |

When in 2007 and you save the file as a .xls. Do you have the 'Compatibility Checker' activiated ? Check a workbook for compatibility with earlier versions of Excel |

Re: Excel 2007 and 2003 conflict.
If you originally had problems in 2003, after saving in 2007 if that overcme the problems, it is hardly surprising that you get problems again when opening in 2003.
You need to address the problems, just upping to 2007 is going to be a transitory fix at best. |

Re: Excel 2007 and 2003 conflict.
Hi Guys, the 'Compatibility Checker' is active.
Sorry for my last post as the memory is over 1gig :) As I work for an organization and everyone uses 2003. The first mistake was to load 2007 to get rid of the error. Now upping to 2007 means a lot of users globally that we will have to change and we cannot do that. So we actually are stuck... but thank you very much for your response guys, really appreciated. Please bring in more ideas… The last thing to do is to upgrade the users to 2007 but I really want to avoid it.. Lest see if we can get a solution for this…. |
