Confused Mum's Outlook Express !!!

I'm hoping this is simple ... Mum's in Cardiff and I'm in Portsmouth ... so I'm trying to help her remotely ... so please give me as many clues as possible.

Mum's with Wannado, using Outlook Express on Win-XP Home. Versions unknown yet.

1. Web access is through a USB modem (not ADSL) ... works OK (56K!!)
2. Receives all email OK
3. All email she tries to send stays in the Outbox, and doesn't get sent.
4. Nothing in the Sent Items folder.

This all "suddenly" happened, no idea how

I'm going to drive up to see her, and being dutiful son, will attempt to fix this problem ... and you're going to tell me how :))

Many Thanks

Alun

Re: Mum's Outlook Express !!!

Check the SMTP settings. You might have to contact her ISP (Wannado) to find out what settings to use. The information might be available through their website. If so, your Mum might have to log in to access it.

Good Luck!

if this suddenly happened - not software installations or setting changes, then check with the isp to make sure they are not having problem.

Re: Mum's Outlook Express !!!

Thanks for the starting info.

As to, it suddenly happened, well, I guess that falls into the same catagory as "Mr. Nobody" when I ask who last had the TV remote

Wanadoo is an unknown to me ... I'll look for their SMPT port setting before attempting to become Mrs. Jones' little hero

Re: Mum's Outlook Express !!!

You can also try deleting her Sent Items and Outbox.dbx files in her OE Identity. They might be corrupted somehow. First, save any messages she wants to keep in a new folder so they can be moved back afterwards. Close OE. Browse to her identity folder and delete the two .dbx files. They will be recreated when opening OE again.
