After OS update, Entourage X for Mac buttons don't work
On Mac 10.5.3. Last night my Software Updater installed three things: QuickTime 7.5.5, iTunes 8.0, and HP Printer Drivers Update 1.1.1. Immediately following that I attempted to use my Entourage v.X for Mac Service Release 1, 10.1.6. I now have multiple problems.
When Entourage starts, it no longer automatically, immediately sends and receives. An error message comes up first that says, "The action could not be completed. Mail error." Normally, Entourage checks with my keychain, enters my password and sends and receives immediately. Now, I get the message and after a minute or so, it will finally send and receive. If I hit Apple-K, it will send and receive right away. When I click on a message in the top window, there no longer is a preview of the message in the bottom preview window. I now have to open up the message in order to read it. Also, when I highlight a new incoming message, usually the bolding goes away and the blue asterisk to the right goes away. Now, neither happens. I have to manually mark it as read by keyboard or top, application menu. None of my menu buttons work. I can't send/receive, trash, reply, nothing. However, I can use keyboard shortcuts for those various things, and I can also use the top menu. When I reply to a message (using a keyboard shortcut or the top menu), a new window opens. After typing my message, my "Send" button doesn't work. I have to do it by keyboard or top menu. HOWEVER, if I hit my "Attach" button to attach a file, it works. Which leads me to... I can no longer drag a file onto my message to attach it. I used to be able to drag and drop it in the "Attachments" window. I have to now hit the "Attach" button and proceed from there. All of the Preferences that I control from the Preferences Menu have not changed. I have reinstalled Office twice. Same problems. Apple won't help me, because they say it's a Microsoft issue (even though it was their updates that messed things up). And, now, Microsoft won't help me, because their technical support has "lapsed" for this product. I can't tell yet, but I don't believe Word is affected. The buttons seems to work on it. I haven't looked into Excel or PowerPoint yet. Do I really need to upgrade? Or does someone know of an easy fix? I know the price of the upgrade isn't all that expensive, but I don't have any financial wiggle room right now or anytime in the near to far future. And all my needs are met with what I currently have. Apple said it might have something to do with Entourage's plist, but since it's not their product, they don't want to try to guide me through it, in case they messed up the problem further. Can anybody help? Thanks. |

Re: After OS update, Entourage X for Mac buttons don't work
Something further...
When I attempt to reply to a message, I try to enter the addressee's name. Normally, autofill addresses automatically begin popping up as I type. This no longer happens. I have to now manually scroll through my addresses in the right window pane in order to enter an addressee. Thanks. |
