How to delete older MS Office programs?

I have MS Office 97 and MS Office 2007. I no longer have the installation CD or key code for 97, and want to delete Word and Excel from my PC. I have tried through Control Panel/Add-Remove programs, but to no avail. Is there any way to delete these older programs?

What hapened when you uninstalled them ?

I got a message that they were deleted, but they are still around.

How are they still around? . . you can open theold versions and use them?
