That accursed Excel >.<
I'm rather sorry to say I'm an IT Technician in training who's in some serious need of Excel help. I'm more than a little befuddled by my problem.
I've tried searching the net but to no avial, none of the advice I've found seem to be able to fix my problem. A colleague of mine, who seems to have a re-ocurring problem in Excel is getting more than a little frustrated by the fact she can't get anything done. I've tried and searched, but hey, I'm still new at this, so I thought it was time to ask for help. Here's the issue: "Excel cannot complete this task with available resources. Choose less data or close other applications" Some of you may already be familiar with this error message. Basically, everytime she opens an invoice this error message appears and more often than not, will actually crash her computer or cause her to lose work. It isn't just on her computer either, it happens on mine as well (Which has a different OS, Excel Version and overall Spec)
Help, advice or a little push in the right direction would be appreciated. Anything to help me learn some more :3 Thanks x UPDATE: We're using both Excel 2003 and Excel 2007. PC specs are varied, being Windows XP SP3 to Windows Vista SP1. Most machines have between 1-2 gig of RAM. Last edited by Automatic_Slave; 09-12-2008 at 08:15 AM. |

Does this error occur only with this particular "Invoice" workbook? Does the workbook have any macros or VB code? I would take a look at that first. Particularly any "Workbook_Open" events.

Re: That accursed Excel >.<
The error occurs in about 98% of the invoices that are opened and trust me, that's a hefty amount. We make invoices for each of our clients every week so they well into the thousands, if not tens of thousands. As I said, there's nothing overly swanky about them, just a few relatively simple formulas so no macros or VB code.
Thanks for the link, but I've had that up myself in pursuit of an answer and to no avail T.T We're using a mixture of 2003/2007 but the problem occurs on both. Thanks for the comments guys xxx |
