Power point HELP!!
My husband spent days putting together a presentation for work. This is nothing new to him as he does it every other month. He went to open it back up to save it to his flash drive and he keeps getting this error message:
Power point can't read (and then it is the address for his presentation) When we push help it says: The file you tried to open does not appear to be a PowerPoint file (.ppt). Check the original file to find out the real file type; you may be able to edit it in another program designed for that file type. I have tried opening it internet explorer like was suggested somewhere else and that did not work. I tried e-mailing it to my other computer and that did not work. any suggestions.....I really don't want him to have to re-do this if it is not necessary. |

Re: Power point HELP!!
Questions:
Can you copy it to another location on your hard drive first? Are you opening the file on the same computer it was created? What version was it created in? If opening on another machine, what version does that machine have installed? Have you installed the latest service packs for XP and Office? Some things to try: CAUSE This behavior occurs when you attempt to open password-protected PowerPoint 2007, PowerPoint 2003, or PowerPoint 2002 presentations in any earlier version of PowerPoint or in the PowerPoint Viewer. PowerPoint 2002 was the first version of PowerPoint for Microsoft Windows to implement password protection for presentations. Because earlier versions of PowerPoint do not have this capability, they are unable to open any password-protected presentations. WORKAROUND To work around this issue, follow these steps, as appropriate for the version of PowerPoint that you are running: PowerPoint 2007 1. In PowerPoint 2007, open the presentation, type the password, and then click OK. 2. Click the Microsoft Office Button, point to Prepare, and then click Encrypt Document. 3. In the Encrypt Document dialog box, delete all the text in the Password box, and then click OK. PowerPoint 2003 or PowerPoint 2002 1. In PowerPoint 2003 or PowerPoint 2002, open the presentation, type the password, and then click OK. 2. On the Tools menu, click Options. 3. On the Security tab, delete all the text in the Password to open box, and then click OK.
