printing problem with ms word

Hi,
I am having an issue with priniting any word document. The printer is EPSON Stylus CX5500 and the OS is Windows XP. I am unable to print any word document although I can print jpeg images, pdf files and even text files from notepad. I get an error message saying Windows cannot print due to a problem with the current printer setup.

I have checked by printing a test page from Windows and that works fine.
I ran the repair and install Office package and attempted to print a word document again but with no success. It says "Error launching browser". I also tried the Detect and Repair option under the Help menu in Word and all i get is "msiexec.exe" cannot be started.

I have tried removing the printer and related software and installed the same with latest drivers. Removed Office suite and ran the removal wizard in the resource kit tool and did the Office installation again. Also installed Office 2003 Service Pack 3. No improvements again. I still cant print any Word document.

Any help on this would be much appreciated.
Thank you all in advance

Re: printing problem with ms word

The obvious is to make sure the Epson is the printer selected in Word's print screen, but I'm sure you've done that already.

I don't know a solution, but may have a work-around you can use until the printer and Word decide to play nice together.

Since you can print from all your other applications, use a pdf printer (I like CutePDF). Print from word to pdf, then print the pdf on your printer.

I know it's a pain, but at least it will let you print stuff you really need printed until . . .

Yep. I've done that.

Thank you for your suggestion. Its a relief to know that I can atleast print them even if i have to get round a few hassles.
