Word 2003, Extra "File" menu entries.
In installed some software to assist me in converting .pdf docs. I didn't keep the name of the software but did uninstall it via control panel. I now have mulitiple "File" menu entries:
twenty nine entries between "open" and "save". The entires are all idenical, "Open PDF" Nothing happens when I click on them. How can I remove them from my "File" menu? Thanks in adance, RWH |

Re: Word 2003, Extra "File" menu entries.
Try this procedure:
Click Start > Run Type ‘regedit’ (without the ‘) and hit Enter or Click OK Browsing the list of folders on the left, go to the following location: HKey_Current_User > Software > Microsoft > Office > Word > Addins This key has addins listed in it – sort of. Usually they are the COM addins listed, but it may contain other references, hooks, claws and leftover teeth from a hungry addin. Rename the Addin key and close the Registry Editor.

Re: Word 2003, Extra "File" menu entries.
CTSNKY,
Thank you for your reply. My Word/Addins registery folder contains two additional folders: "WebPage.Connect" & "Word EEFonts.connect" plus the entry: ab(Default) REG_SZ (value not set) If I rename "Addins" there does not seem to be any difference in the Word 'File Menu" The extra "Open Pdf" entries are still there. I did not reboot prior to reopening Word. Would that be the correct procedure? WebPage.Connect has three entires: ab(Default) REG_SZ (value not set) FriendlyName REG_SZ Web Pge Wizard LoadBehavior REg_DWORD 0x00000008(8) WordEEFonts.Connect three entries: ab(default) REG_SZ (value not set) abFriendlyName REG_SZ Micorosft Word East Fonts Tool LoadBehavior REG_DWORD 0x00000000* (8) RWH |
