Is this PC a laptop or desktop?

If it's a desktop, you can buy internal floppy drives for about 10 dollars plus shipping - probably less. If you have an old pc around with a floppy drive in it, you can swap it out of that machine.

If it's a laptop, or if you don't feel comfortable opening up your computer to add the drive in, you can buy external floppy drives that connect via USB. These cost at least twice as much as the average internal drives.

I've got a laptop and 750 zip drive. Can I insert the floppy disk in the zipdrive? I'm afraid I might not be able to extract the disk. thanks.

No, zip drives cannot read 3.5" floppy disks.

Thanks for your quick response. I'll get an external drive.

your local library may have computers with drives, if so, use theirs and email the files or store them somewhere on line.

Re: FLOPPY DISK files needed to be opened

Another method would be to copy the floppy at the library to a hotstick. They hold alot more data anyway and use a USB port as well.
