Printing problem (vertical stripes) MS WORD 2003

Hello,

I have XP (SP2) and MS Word 2003 and when I try to print a WORD document (with no graphics) I get some vertical stripes on the right edge of the paper. These stripes correspond to the lines of words, meaning if there is a line of words then there's stripes but no stripes when it's a blank line.

My printer is HP 1020 LaserJet, and I tried resetting the column width, and the right boundary of this document, but no use.

The strange thing is when I print Powerpoint - no problem, and this problem didn't occur before (I've had the computer and printer for over 1 year and have been printing similar documents all along).

Is this a printer driver problem? I used the original disc to install my printer.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Printing problem (vertical stripes) MS WORD 2003

does the same proble occur in notepad?

if so, it's your printer.
if not, Word, I never had any problems with 2003 but i did have a similar problem with 2000, check;

>Options
>Print [tab]
make sure all but the following are unticked;

>Allow A4/Letter paper resizing
>Background printing
>Drawing objects
