Powerpoint Video Issue

I'm having trouble running a powerpoint presentation with a video in it. I can use the file properly in XP (using Office 2k3) - but when I transfer it to Vista (also using Office 2k3) the video plays in 4 windows instead of full screen.

All of the files are in the correct place, and I believe the codecs are up to date (besides, they're .wmv files so should be natively supported) . The same thing happened when using openoffice too.

Anyone got a clue how to fix?

Re: Powerpoint Video Issue

Do you have the same problem with .avi or .mpeg files?

Re: Powerpoint Video Issue

Yes. But I only need it to be able to play one specific video.

I don't see an obvious edit button, so here's some additional details.

- The video plays, but it's the same video played in 4 narrow columns on the screen. The colours are not correct and there is no sound.

I've googled everything I can think of, but can't find anything else.

Re: Powerpoint Video Issue

have you tryed deleting the video from the powerpoint on the vista machine then copying over the original .wmv file and iserting it into the powerpoint on the vista machine?

P.S the "Edit" button is in the bottom right of your post in a grey box.

Re: Powerpoint Video Issue

I've tried:

Playing it in Office 2K7
Creating it in Office 2K7 (On both XP and Vista)
Creating it in Office 2k3 (on both XP and Vista)
Creating it in Openoffice (on both XP and Vista)
Loading the video file into windows movie maker, and re-publishing it (in Vista)
Updating Codecs
Updating Drivers
Converting the ppt to avi (fail)

I'm about to try converting it to Flash and seeing if that works as I seem to have exhausted all available avenues.

I'm a systems administrator, so I've checked everything obvious as far as I'm aware.

Re: Powerpoint Video Issue

I've also tried changing the monitor, changing the refresh rate and reducing the graphics acceleration.

I have tested the file on 2 computers running XP pro and they both played perfectly.

(and I think the edit button vanishes once your post reaches a certain age - 5 mins maybe?)
