Pasting image in Word 2000
I am trying to get a pasted bitmap (from MS Paint) on the top line of a Word 2000 file but it won't stay there. It will sit happily on the 2nd line, but if I drag it to the top line then it immediately jumps to the very top of the page, covering part of the header. (See attached image). It won't move down if I use the cursor keys. How can I get it to stay on the 1st line? I'm doing the following:
Edit / Paste Special select 'picture' option right-click, Format Picture / Layout, select 'square' OK All other settings are left as the default. This problem seems to come and go - it works in some documents but not in most, and there is no pattern that I can discern and the way I create and paste the bitmap doesn't change. Need to add that I'm on Windows 2000 at work - the o/s on my login ID is for my home PC. Last edited by GoodJudge; 05-23-2008 at 07:29 AM. |

Re: Pasting image in Word 2000
Press Enter at the top of the document to create blank lines. You want to paste it on a new line past the point of where your header ends.

Re: Pasting image in Word 2000
Hi CTSNKY,
I'm afraid that I didn't understand your reply. How is a blank line different to the line with my 'test' text on it in the sample picture? I want to be able to type on the top line as well, and have the text flow around the image. Also, what do you mean by "'past the point of where your header ends"? The first line of the main page section is below the bottom of the header, the width dimensions are the same for the header and the main page, so I can't deliberately position it anywhere on the header? I think I may have found a partial answer this morning. It seems to occur when the top line has a 'header' style; I think Word is making the picture part of the header (even though I'm asking for text to flow around it), so tries to make the bottom of the picture level with the bottom of the text. However, it can't put the top of the picture past the top of the page, so because of its height, the bottom projects below the header line. If I change the top line to 'normal' style, it normally works - but not always! Does this sound like I'm on the right track? |
