Outlook 2000 won't backup any longer.
I have a very large .pst file (about 500mb) and need to prune it significantly, but want to it up first. I have used the MS backup utility before butnow find it simply doesn't work (used to write the back up when shutting down Outlook). Also if I simply try to copy the file I get a message "Cannot copy, the [process cannot access the file because another process has locked a portion of the file" even when Outlook has been closed. I suspect this may be linked to te backup problem. Also it sometimes takes an AGE to load, other times quite fast. I can sometimes do a copy immediately after re-booting.
Any suggestions to fix the issue? Also I know it's an old version, I'm willing to buy a more recent one if it offers either any significant fetarures I actually use (I use it for emails, contact and calendar only at the moment, or if it offers a more robust and easier to use approach to data security! (I still find it unberlievable that MS could ever have offered it with the data file buried so deep in the system AND no built-in back-up procedure!) All suggetsions gratefully recieved! Steve |
