Outlook 2003 Password problem - No Solution??
I have run across the dreaded "empty password" issue with Outlook 2003. Briefly, it is a POP3 issue where you not only can't get OL to remember the password, you can't even get it to submit one when you fill it in. I can send mail just fine (SMTP), but when I check my mail the "Enter Network Password" box comes up. I enter the password and I get the ERR message with "a password MUST be entered". It was. No joy. During setup I run the tests - all green. I just can't get mail. It won't send a password.
Since I am using Vista, I set up Windows mail the same way. Works perfectly. I have tried many things, including removing add-ins, AV, firewalls, deleting and rebuilding accounts and profiles. Even creating another acccount to check mail on a different ISP. Same result. OL just won't send the password with the POP3 request. Has anyone ever solved this? A thorough search of on-line resources shows this problem back to 2003 at least with no one ever getting it solved. Sometimes people say the problem is fixed, but no one ever says how. Does anyone know? Thanks |
