Office Pro 2007 - Outlook won't install

I tried to install Office Pro 2007 on an Acer Aspire 55702 with Vista Home Premium. All programs install fine except Outlook. When I try to launch Outlook, I get a message "Microsoft Office Outlook has stopped working." I reinstalled OUtlook. No change. I uninstalled the suite, then reinstalled. No change. I ran the MS Diagnostice that are part of Office. It found a scrambled file which it fixed, but reported that another problem could not be fixed automatically. It directed me to a MS web page with suggestions - none of which worked. At several times during this process I got messages that RTFHTM.dll is missing. Then I got MSVCR80.dll was missing. I downloaded these to the system32 folder. No change. I disabled a variety of startup programs and rebooted. No change. I launched Outlook in the SAFE mode. No change. I downloaded and installed all Office updates. No change. Any suggestions?

Office 97 is on this computer, but I can't uninstall it because it asks for the original install CD which I don't have. Could there be a conflict? How can I uninstall Office 97 without the CD? Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestion. Acer eDataManagement Security software was installed. I removed it, but that did not help. Outlook still will not launch.

Re: Office Pro 2007 - Outlook won't install

I wish you hadn't uninstalled Acer eDataManagement Security, not if you wanted to keep it that is. Here's the answer...

Open your registry editor by running "regedt32" and browse to Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Outlook\Addins\OAddin.Addin

Then change the value of the LoadBehaviour key and change it to 0. This will disable the Add-in.

Go to your Start Menu, All Programs -> Microsoft Office -> Microsoft Office Tools -> Microsoft Office Diagnostics.

Let Microsoft Office Diagnostics finish its run and it should mention under Setup Diagnostic that it repaired all Microsoft Office installation problems it could find, or it might say it repaired one but couldn't repair the other. Either way it is fine.

Reboot and everything should be fixed for you. If for some reason it is not go back into the registry and change the value to 1 instead of 0, then run the diagostics again.
