macro no longer works after 2003 install

I am using visual basic editor to run macros with word 97 It is basically just pulling information from our database into the word document. It was working fine, until we tried to install office 2003. After that the macro begins to run and then comes up with "error 13: type mismatch". There has to be something in the 2003 install (maybe in the registry?) that is affecting the macro running in 97. I have tried nearly everything to fix this, the only thing that works is to restore to before 2003 was installed. I would like to have both versions installed at the same time and have put them in different folders. Does anyone know something about this?

Re: macro no longer works after 2003 install

Hi

MS upgraded VBA when they brought out Office XP. I found that macros I had created for Excel 97 would not run on Excel 2002. They introduced new objects and removed others. Word is obviously the same. Try stepping through the macro to find the offending line - that will at least show you which object, method or event is causing the problem. You can then make the required changes.

Re: macro no longer works after 2003 install

Yeah, I guess for now, the solution is we use one or the other. After trying to install Office 2003, the macro will not run, even if this program is uninstalled. The only way to reverse its effect is to format the drive or return to a restore point from before the install.

Our programmer is going to have to rewrite the code to make it compatible with office 2003. Thanks for your input.
