I am waiting on delivery of a new computer. I currently have windows 98 with outlook express. A family member has compressed all the files from outlook express to a disc. I hope that went well.
My questions are how do I get them into the new computer and the outlook program. Is there a very detailed simple step by step method to achieve this? How do I add folders to the outlook? I currently have 17 folders in express. Does outlook create its own folders and the compressed files go in them or do I have to create them first then add the compressed folders? If there is a link I will read the instructions to do this. Any help is appreciated on this topic. I would like to get everything ready so the changeover is fast and headache free. I assume my internet provider will help setting up the address for the new system. |

Re: outlook express to outlook
Hi
Thanks for the reply. In what I have read on the link would not both computers have to be functional at the same time to accomplish what it is asking? In my mind I am sending the stuff in the old computer, somewhere, and then hooking up the new one getting the email set up and recieving the files form outlook. The link does not say whether new folders will be created in outlook or do I have to do that first then send the stuff over? I have also compacted them on disc. |

Re: outlook express to outlook
Have a look at this for an explanation of your .pst files.

a pst file is what outlook uses as a database fore emails, calander etc as compared to outlook express which keeps lots of files seperately. did you not get the option to import outlook express? try uninstall and reinstall and look for the prompt. |
