Using Access Queries/Reports From Excel
I am using Excel as a database of sorts (not my choice). I have built some Queries and Reports in Access that pull out the relevant data from the excel sheets. I am attempting to compile the "report of Justice" to stop the "mother of all Reports" (folks e-mail out the entire excel workbook on a daily basis). I understand that Macros would be the way to go here, but I am novice with using them. I am getting familiar with adding controls Here is my question:
How can I get a command Button to open the access file, run the query/report to allow a preview of the information? Piggy back (if they're allowed in this forum (I'll start another thread if require)... how can I have a command button in Excel e-mail this report once it is compiled? Thanks, Stag |

Re: Using Access Queries/Reports From Excel
Hi Stag
I'm not very good with Access, I'm afraid. However, opening another MS application from within Excel itself is reasonable straightforward - have a look here http://www.mrexcel.com/archive2/57100/66275.htm For e-mailing from Excel, Ron de Bruin is the real expert on this.

Re: Using Access Queries/Reports From Excel
Great News! I got Excel to do it!!
I applied one of Iain's other solutions (one where someone needed a two column list box to work a hyperlink) I discovered in Access that with a report (or with a Macro) you can create a shortcut. I created a shortcut to the report and saved it in a document folder. Then, in Excel, I simply hyperlinked to that folder's shortcut file. I ended up doing the same thing with a Macro that exported and saved the report as a Snapshot viewer file so that I could e-mail it. This project is almost done, now and I'll be taking it out of "beta" and going prime time Thursday morning at the office. Thanks for this site and the great advice you guys provide. Gotta go start another post for the final "glitch." (yes, I'm sure it will be the final one...) Stag |
