[SOLVED] Importing email & addresses
Hi all
I'm a network noob and seemed to have stuffed up something. I have networked my PC with Windows Server 2003 (Small Business Server) and did so successfully, but......... I was not aware that my old user profile will not be accessible at start up. This is not a major issue, as I can access all my files and folders in the explorer under users. The only issue is now to get my old emails, addresses and favourite websites into Outlook and IE7. I have tried the import function in Outlook, but don't know where to look for the wab file I think it's called. I'm using MS Office 2007. I am using my PC for business and about to network the other 3 PC's in my company. Someone please feel sorry for me and help !

Re: Importing email & addresses
SOLVED!
Went to control panel, folder options, show hidden folders. I found my previous user. Found my outlook pst file in Users\my_old_user_name\Appdata\local\Microsoft\Outlook\outlook.pst Tried to import the file using the above path from the import function in Outlook. No go! Outlook reckoned I don't have the authority to do so. I then simply copied the outlook.pst file to the same directory path under my new user and did the import thing in Outlook, and bam! I have my emails. I found my favourite websites under my old user name in the favorites folder....duh!.....and copied it to the new user. Now my IE7 is back to normal as well. Very pleased with myself ! Last edited by MadMack; 11-09-2007 at 07:58 AM. |
