reinstall options without disk

This may be a bit of a basic question, but in the near future I hope to reinstall my system from scratch.
However, I have realised that though I have an XP disk, office was preinstalled under a new licencing scheme so I don't have the disk.

What are my options? Do I have to contact the manufacturer or can I somehow store what I already have?

I don't know of any way to create an install disk from a pre-installed MS Office. You might be able to get something from the company that originally installed Office.

Otherwise you'll probably have to buy a full version.

If the money is an issue, check out Open Office. It has all the same applications that Office has and all except the database are as easy to use and have almost the same functions and features.

For relational database, I still like MS Access best.

Re: reinstall options without disk

If your Office is 2003 or 2007, search your computer for a hidden folder named MSOCACHE.

Moreover, it's of course a good idea to contact the OEM and ask for Office installation media.
