Saving Office email attachments

Whenever I try to save a Word or Excel document that was sent to me as an email attachment, I get the error "Some of the files that meet the search criteria may be missing from the list. Not enough memory available to complete the operation. Close other programs to make more memory available, and then try again." From earlier research, I believe it has something to do with my Temporary Internet Files folder possibly being full or corrupt.

I am using Outlook Express 6 with all updates for my email client. This error only occurs if I open the file and then choose Save As. If I right click on the attachment and say Save Attachement, it works fine. I can also save the file when it is open by simply clicking off the error message, then navigating to the folder I want to save it in and saving it there.

I cleaned out my Temporary Internet Files via Internet Options, but when I use Windows Explorer to try to find the folder itself to try renaming and creating a new one, the folder is nowhere to be found (Show hidden files is turned on).

I am using a Sony VAIO desktop running Windows XP Home SP2 with all updates completed. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Patty

Re: Saving Office email attachments

Hi, I'm also looking for a solution to this. A temporal solution is to delete all temporary files (when you open an excel file from the outlook or as an attachment from somewhere, it saves it in this folder)

Try this: when you click on "save as..." you will see the folder name there, it should be OKL###, now that you know it, go to: C:\Documents and Settings\YOURUSERNAME\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\OKL### (### being the correct numer) you will have to type this manually, since you won't see the folder OKL.

Now delete all files there, if it says you can't coz X file is being used, delete the rest. You excel will unstuck, and you will be able to save.

This will let you go on until the whatevertheheckisgoingon happens again. There must be a solution to avoid this, I will keep on searching.
