I'm currently running windows XP on a gateway convertible tablet (not the computer I'm using to write this). It has a Core 2 Duo T2300 processor with 1 gig of ram. I've recently been having quite a bit of trouble with using OneNote during lectures. When I begin writing with my stylus, OneNote starts to lock up eventually, though I'm still able to write. It just doesn't seem like it updates the information that's being put in.
For example, if I'm writing a long paragraph with my stylus, once i get to the end of the paragraph, if I want to erase something, It won't allow me to, because the window is locked up. When I check the CPU usage in device manager, OneNote is constantly using 50% of the CPU (when it's locked up) no more, no less. Also, the memory usage seems to raise at a constant rate until the lockup has passed and I can begin using OneNote again. I've tried raising the priority above normal to no avail, and i've checked CPU affinity, and it's able to run on both cores, so I don't understand why it can't use more than 50% of the CPU. Afterwards, the memory usage never lowers, though. This problem so far has been fairly sporadic, but I notice it happening more and more often, and if I'm using it during lectures, it's supremely frustrating if it starts messing up. Usually restarting OneNote or restarting the computer offers a temporary fix, but only for about 5 minutes. Can anyone help me? Currently I have OneNote set to backup every 15 minutes (changed from every minute), but that doesn't seem to make the problem any better. Thanks so much, Joseph Moore |
