Issue with MS Outlook
I am running MS Outlook 2003
I cannot click in the message field when I want to type an email. I have to use the arrow buttions or tab button. I can do this in any other application (ie: word) Any idea how to resolve this? |

Re: Issue with MS Outlook
I do have the: Use Microsoft Office Word 2003 to edit e-mail messages
and the Use Microsoft Office Word 2003 to read Rich text e-mail messages boxes checked. I have unchecked the Use Microsoft Office Word 2003 to edit e-mail messages box and this allows me to use my mouse and click in the body of the message but then my signature footer is not visable. I need both...

Re: Issue with MS Outlook
If it's not your settings it could be a corrupt file. What you could do next is as follows:-
Start/Run type in sfc /scannow then press enter Process will ask for your original disk, so insert the XP disk and let the process do it's repair. This is equivalent to inserting the XP disk and choosing Repair. This won't hurt anything and with luck it will resolve your Outlook behaviour. |

Re: Issue with MS Outlook
Excuse my failure to understand, but when you say you "cannot click in the message field when you want to type an email", do you mean after you have selected NEW to compose an email message, or for the existing messages when you are previewing them?

ZAZULA-
Yes. Once I click new mail message I cannot click in the open text window to add text. I have to use the tab button to get to the field. And if I try to right click on anything such as to correct spelling nothing happens. This only happens in Outlook. |

Re: Issue with MS Outlook
This takes me back to a long discussion years ago about MS OUtlook and Outlook Express. The outcome was that nearly all of us chose to use OE as we expereinced fewer problems with it. MS OUtlook has more features but basically an email service is exactly that and OE provides that to me without problems.
If scannow didn't correct the program and you are confident of the settings then I can't think of any other steps other than the obvious one above. G'lluck |
