dot matrix problem

Hello all, I work in a manufacturing plant and we use the panasonic kx-p1150 dot matrix printers so our part markers can make stencils to mark our parts. Now we use word to make our marking sheets which list specs on the parts and contain the stencil for the part marking. until now we've always used office 2000 with these printers and haven't had any problems the new machines have xp with office 2003. Now the problem is this, the part markers will click the section where the stencil is on the marking sheet and then navigate to print and then selection so that just the stencil will print onto the wax marking paper. the issue with office 2003 is that the selection bubble is greyed out, I've tried looking at the settings of the other machines where it works and everything is identical. I've also tried reinstalling the printer and applying service pack 2 to office 2003. So I'm wondering if anyone has had a problem similar to this or if anyone has any ideas on what the problem could be. if worse comes to worst then I'll just put office 2000 back but we're trying to migrate everything to at least 2003.

Thank You Much

Re: dot matrix problem

i spent sometime looking online for a possible solution for my problem and there was no clear cut easy answer. I couldn't really spend any more time on it so i just reverted back to office 2000 and everything worked perfect the first time. nevertheless if anyone has any idea on what would cause a newer version of office to lose functionality that info would be greatly appreciated

thank you

Re: dot matrix problem

just another follow up on this, I tried installing open office on a pc with the dot matrix printer and the selection option worked fine in that as well. so no question here other than what's the deal with office 2003 i don't understand why it wouldn't work but oh well as long as there are alternatives it's fine with me
