I have Microsoft Word 97 installed on my laptop. It is used by me only, and there are no passwords or restrictions that I put in.
I differentiate among Word files by the letters after the dot. For examples a file ending ".REA" is a real estate letter, a file ending in ".est" relates to documents about my parent's estate. Today, I was looking for an "est" file so I entered a search for "*.est" to limit my search among only those files. Instead of limiting my list to this group of files (which has worked in the past) I get a message that I am refused access to the folder and to contact my administrator. That's me!!! But I don't know what to do. Can anyone help? Last edited by Harrywolf99; 04-04-2007 at 10:23 AM. Reason: typo |

Re: Can't Access Folder in Word 97
Hi
Can I just check I understand correctly. Instead of saving a file as say, Test Estate.doc you would save it as Test Estate.est - is that correct?

Re: Can't Access Folder in Word 97
By changing the file extension, does that not make the file into something else?
.est files are associated with Ice2000, Webalizer and Microsoft Streets & Trips. Poor Word is probably thoroughly confused. In Windows Explorer try renaming them back to .doc and see if that helps.
