Outlook 2003 Problem

This is something that just popped up recently. I can't think of any changes I have made except Firefox updating. When I try to send an email message using Outlook 2003 it hangs (says processing). I have 3 different email accounts and no matter which one I try to send with it will just hang. It also causes other programs to not respond, for example if I try to start Firefox after this happens I get the hourglass like it is starting then it just goes away and Firefox never starts. If I try the test settings feature it hangs also and causes me to have to reboot. When I close down I get a XPCOM:event viewer dialog box to close manually, then I get the Thorconnwndclass dialog box that I have to close manually. I am using XP Pro and like I said earlier no major software or hardware changes. I have deleted the email accounts and recreated them but that did not help. This is very frustrating as it seems to have appeared out of nowhere. Can anyone please help.

Thanks,
Vark

Re: Outlook 2003 Problem

Check and make sure you have all the service pack for office. You should be in sp2 now. What type of email service are you using? ie exchange, pop

Thanks for the reply:
Using POP. I can receive mail from any of the accounts, just not send. I did use office update and it said I was up to date. There is one thing and I don't remember exactly, but after this happened I did Detect and Repair that completed successfully. I tried re-installing Office and was prompted numerous times for the service pack 2 disc ? (which I don't have) and I just clicked past those prompts.

More Info: If I go into tools to test setting for the accounts it will lock up while doing the test. When I get the not responding message I close and then everything else locks up and I have to restart. When shutting down I get a dialog box to shut down XPCOM:event receiver and then a dialog box for Thorconnwndclass. I have also gotten a dialog box for FFHook. I have searched these and what I have seen doesn't seem to apply to my situation and I cannot find any info about FFHook at all.

Re: Outlook 2003 Problem

I do not use Outlook at all but I have encountered the same problem recently. I will be using Firefox, and all the sudden it will hang. No pages will load, I just get the hourglass and the status bar starts to crawl to the right, but it is as if the network connection has turned to molasses. When I then try to start IE, I get the same problem. It seems to happen more often when I do Google search, but this may be coincidence. If I close Firefox and try to restart it, I get the hourglass for a couple seconds and then Firefox doesn't open; nothing happens. Virus scans also do not work after this happens (McAfee internet security). It takes forever to reboot my computer after this happens, and I run into the same XPCom Event Receiver error and subsequent close program dialog box. I am running XP SP2 and it was recently updated; I am using Firefox 1.5.0.11.
