Outlook vs Broadband
The need
I am looking for a way to automatically use one outlook e-mail configuration when I am directly attached to my corporate LAN and a different configuration when I am traveling using a broadband wireless connection. The problem When my laptop is connected to our corporate network, e-mail works great. When I travel I use a wireless broadband card and the wireless provider requires that I use their SMTP server which requires a different outlook account configuration. If I have both configurations active I get no error messages when I am at my corporate office, but I when I am on the broadband connection I get the messages that I cannot connect to my outbound server. Thanks in advance |

If your Outlook connects on your corporate LAN, but not when "roaming" i.e using Wlan card then your issue is probably one of two things:
You do not have access rights to access your corporate email from an external connection (which is what your WLAN card essentially is). or You do not have a VPN conection to your corporate LAN. There are 3 solutions, and both need your corporate Administrator to do this for you: 1. Ask him for access while roaming - he will create a roaming profile etc. 2. Ask him for VPN access, and he will provide the necessary software on your laptop. 3. Find out if they have Outlook Web Access - that way you can access your corporate email via a browser (IE or Firefox etc) and log in there. Its a bit more limited than outlook full version, but is great when out & about.
