Excel Formula. Need help...complicated.

Hello everyone! I rarely use Excel so I only know how to do basic formulas. Can someone help me make a formula that reflects this data:

first $500 @ 8%
next $1,000 @ 1.5%
next $5,000 @ 1%
next $20,000 @ .25%
over $26,501 @ .1%
+ $5 to total.

I need this to work for any amount so Excel will calculate the end result for me. The formula will draw a number out of a single cell to apply to.

It commission that I earn off of ebay sales for my company.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!! Thank you!

Hi, Gamerman. I once asked MrExcel how to do this because I didn't know how either. While I didn't test his directions, no one has told me they don't work. I took what he gave me and turned it into an article. See:

Bill calls them "Tiered Commissions"

Hi Gamerman,

I used something similar for calculating income tax with different slabs.
Am attaching the sheet here for your reference. You will need to add more rows and drag the formula and it should work.

Hopefully that is what u required. Do let me know in case you need some changes or clarifications.

Cheers
Dheeraj
