Excel opening problem

Hi,

Everytime I click on an excel doc, it opens Excel and the document fine BUT then tells me that the document is already open. (which it is not!) I just ditch the notice and everything works fine

If I open the doc from within Excel there is no such warning.

Anyone know what's going on here?

Try a repair install of microsoft office. Insert the Office disk, and in the add/remove programs box, click on Office, and click Change > Repair or reinstall > Repair install. Hopefully that will fix things.

What file is it saying is already open? Is the file you're opening in your XLStart directory by chance? See:
http://www.officearticles.com/excel/...soft_excel.htm

And if Matt's suggestion doesn't work, try doing Excel troubleshooting:

Good luck!
